Conjuring up high quality slots has been the hallmark of Microgaming for many years, but this time they have really set the bar very high with the forthcoming release of the superb new magic-themed slot, Rabbit in the Hat.
The bare bones of the slot don’t make it sound particularly innovative. It’s a 5×3 slot with 9 fixed paylines on every spin. Nothing out of the ordinary there you think, but just like a magician preparing you for the big unveil on a spectacular trick, there’s a lot more to this new game that meets the eye.
What is truly innovative is how the game lets players access its biggest features, including the free spins round. Microgaming have made the need to land 3 scatter symbols disappear and in its place is the magic hat.
Throughout the base game a randomly generated magician appears and when he does, he conjures up a hat over reel 5. This is the Magic Hat and attached to it is a bonus, which is triggered only if a Wild symbol appears on the next spin on the reel directly below.
With each spin of the reel, the Hat will move one step to the left before eventually disappearing off screen.
The four bonuses attached to the Magic Hat are a Cash bonus (a random cash award), a Wild bonus (which turns up to three reels Wild), a Free Spins bonus (which sees 10 free spins awarded) and a Mystery bonus which randomly awards one of the three previous bonuses.
When you get the Free Spins bonus, you also receive other Magic Hats across all reels, a new Magic hat appearing on reel five with each spin as the hats move across the reels. This means that any Wild on the reels in free spins guarantees a win or bonus. Free Spins can also retrigger with up to 50 available.
